The fourth quarter of 2015 is getting close! And the 5% quarterly cashback from Discover and Chase Freedom is now open for registration!
I have the Discover It card, which has the rotating quarterly 5% cashback calendar, as shown below. For the fourth quarter of 2015, the 5% will be on Amazon, Department Stores, and Clothing Stores, for the first $1,500 spent.
The program details are:
Sign up to earn 5% Cashback Bonus on up to $1,500 in combined purchases made at Amazon.com, department stores and clothing stores from 10/1/15 (or the date on which you sign up, whichever is later) through 12/31/15. Amazon.com purchases include those made through the Amazon.com checkout, including digital downloads, Amazon.com gift cards, Amazon Fresh orders, Amazon Local Deals, Amazon Prime subscriptions and items sold by third party merchants through Amazon.com’s marketplace. Department stores are defined as retailers selling a wide variety of merchandise, with separate checkout counters in each department. Clothing stores are defined as retailers whose primary line of business is selling clothing for men, women, and children. Purchases made at warehouse clubs, wholesale distributors and discount stores are not eligible. Purchases made using tap-and-pay, mobile or wireless card readers, virtual wallets or similar technology may not be eligible. Rewards are added to your Cashback Bonus account within two billing periods. See Cashback Bonus Program Terms and Conditions for more information about your rewards.
Discover has a sample list showing stores where 5% cashback can be earned.
The good thing about 5% cashback from Amazon is that you can buy Amazon gift card during this period, and use the gift card later. In this way, you will earn 5% cash back whenever you use those gift card.
The Chase Freedom also has a 5% cashback calendar, which are shown below. Not as good as Discover, the Freedom only has 5% back on Amazon, Zappos, Audible, and Diapers, for the first $1,500 spent.
I like the rotating 5% cashback calendars from Discover and Chase Freedom since they can generate some value if used properly. Both of these two cards doesn’t have an annual membership fee, thus the 5% cashback calendar is a very nice feature.
Holiday season is coming! Are you going to do holiday shopping and use the Discover and Chase Freedom?
