My Credit Cards Arsenal (9) – American Express Platinum Delta Skymiles Card

The American Express Platinum Delta Skymiles card is a Delta Airline co-branded credit card. This one is the three Delta co-branded credit cards: Gold Delta Skymiles, Platinum Delta Skymiles, and Delta Reserve. These three cards have different annual membership fees, and correspondingly different benefits offered. The Platinum Delta Skymiles fall into the middle, and has a reasonable fee and benefits just right for me, at least.

It is unique, also because even though it is not an airline alliance, you can earn and redeem Alaska Airline miles on airlines such as American Airlines, British Airways, Air France, Korean Air, and Delta.

On the application page of the Bank of America Alaska Airlines Visa Signature card, you can see that they emphasize this codeshare agreements with other airline partners:

My Credit Cards Arsenal (5) – Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Visa

This Marriott Rewards Premier Visa is another hotel co-brand credit card from Chase (!), which makes me always wondering why Chase has good relationship with so many good hotel chains. Anyway, I have had this card since 2013, and recently cancelled my old card and re-applied for a new card since I “have not received a new cardmember bonus for this product in the past 24 months”, which is the Chase Bank’s 24-month rule for credit card application.

Currently, on the Marriott official website, there is a limited time offer which offers 80,000 points after $3,000 spending within 3 months of account opening. Personally, I don’t like this offer. The version I applied offers 70,000 points after $2,000 spending within 3 months of account opening and one 1-4 category free night certificate after account opening, which I think is superior because of the low spending threshold and 1-4 category free night.
